As a home owner who has lived in Georgia for more than thirty years without central heat, and recently retired, I felt it was time to add a central heating system. Living in Canada in my youth, I was used to homes heated using Hydronic systems with the old cast-iron radiators. I bought several books on Hydronics, but found Classic Hydronics by Dan Holohan one of the best practical books to help me understand what I needed to design and install my four zone home Hydronic heating system. This book along with the text book, Modern Hydronic Heating by John Siegenthaler, P.E. and Carol Fey's Quick & Basic Hydronic Controls were the three go-to books for my new home designed and installed Hydronic heating system.What I liked best about Dan's book was that he has a down-to-earth writing style that makes it easy to understand most of the technical complexities of Hydronic systems. Once I started to read his book, it was difficult to put it down until I finished it the first reading. I felt I was reading an interesting novel, not just a technical book on Hydronic heating (and secretly, I learned a few things to help me with my future career as a novelist)! Thanks Dan If you work on ANY hot water systems, you will definately fnd this book to contain useful information to make you a guru on Hydronics. The text covers the history of the systems you will find that have been hacked by uneducated installers, giving you insight to the initial system design, and tips to help you solve long standing problems in systems "upgraded" by well meaning but unknowing persons.
